Zeus was quite a mess when he first came into rescue. Severely underweight, with sores over a large part of his body, it seemed that he hadn't been very well treated nor cared for. Nonetheless, he was a very happy non-aggressive dog who loved people and tolerated other dogs well.

A family, who had adopted two of Aztec's rescues, had lost their male very recently and everyone was very sad with his passing. They called Rescue looking for another red male, although they knew in their hearts they shouldn't get a dog like the one they had just lost, it wouldn't be the same and it wouldn't be fair to the new rescue - yet that's really what they wanted. Zeus couldn't have been further from the same. They relunctantly agreed to visit and meet Zeus, they brought their rescued female Doberman with them. No one was prepared for how wonderful Zeus was with the whole family, the kids and especially their female Doberman. She and Zeus were like long lost friends running and playing with each other. Yet, the family still wasn't sure and went home without Zeus.

The next day they called, their female Doberman had gone into depression, moping around, smelling where their male Doberman used to sleep, looking all over for him. Angie was asked to bring Zeus over, which she did. The female was so incredibly happy to see Zeus and the two were off, running, playing being the best of friends. While it won't be perfect at first, everyone's agreed to work hard to make this work. We know Zeus will be a true joy and will finally have the fulfillment of a family who really wants him.

Zeus' Story

Zeus (6/7/05): A 4 year old albino male. They don't come any sweeter than this boy. We think he was mostly kept outside but he really really really wants to be an inside dog. He'll give you more love than you can ask for and have more left to give. He does have a slight case of spondylitis so may need some extra care in the future but is doing fine now - healthy otherwise. He's a little fearful but we see no dog or people aggression in him - as a matter of fact he seems very playful with other dogs, not sure about kids - and he's still underweight. Had his first bath at the vet and was a little bit afraid. He clearly needs love and nurturing but will return it a thousand-fold.
